Histamine Intolerance

Symptoms can vary widely and may resemble an allergic reaction, making it difficult to diagnose. Sufferers may have seen multiple specialists without receiving a clear diagnosis, as often symptoms are looked at individually and not as a whole-person situation.

Common symptoms include:

Gastrointestinal Symptoms: Bloating, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, and nausea.

Skin Reactions: Hives, itching, and eczema.

Respiratory Symptoms: Nasal congestion, runny nose, and asthma-like symptoms.

Neurological Symptoms: Headaches, migraines, dizziness, and fatigue.

Cardiovascular Symptoms: Flushing, rapid heart rate, and low blood pressure.

Only 2 of these need to be present to consider this as a possible diagnosis and consider making dietary and medical changes.

Initial use of supplements and medication can give rapid relief of symptoms, but longer term resolution of symptoms can take some time. However, at least once recognised, we can work towards a solution and feeling well again.
